A very warm welcome to Birchwood C of E Primary School!

Welcome to Birchwood Church of England Primary School.

Our School Values are:

· Perseverance       · Hope         · Respect        · Trust        · Friendship      · Love

Our Christian ethos and values underpin all of our actions.  We believe everyone has limitless potential and that all of our children can achieve if given rich opportunities, experiences, care and guidance.  With children who are eager to learn, parents and Governors who are supportive, our team of dedicated staff promote a culture of creativity with high aspirations where there are no barriers to a child’s success.  We challenge our children and ourselves to be the best we can be in a safe, rich and purposeful environment, while learning together through faith, fun and friendship.

We have high expectations and relentlessly strive for excellence.  We encourage children to take pride in their presentation, environment and learning.  We expect children to demonstrate excellent manners and behaviour with respect for others and their environment.  Staff work closely together to ensure consistency of these expectations and a shared responsibility for all children regardless of class or year group.

We hope that our website will provide you with all the information you require about our school. If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office via email birchwood_primary@sch.warrington.gov.uk  or by telephone 01925 823316.

Mrs S Bentley, Headteacher

    Extreme Weather Forecast
Due to the continuing rise in extremely high temperatures predicted on Monday and Tuesday, all pupils can come to school in their PE kit. Children must not wear football kits - a plain white t shirt and black shorts/skort. Children are also asked to bring a sunhat to school. We also ask that parents/carers ensure that their children come to school wearing sun cream, at least factor 15 with UVA and bring a water bottle. Please encourage your chid to stay hydrated – they can refill their bottles from the water filter taps around the school site. A headache during a heatwave is often a sign of dehydration, so everyone needs to be drinking much more water. There are plenty of shady spaces around the school for break and lunchtimes. We will review these arrangements during Monday and advise pupils and parents of the arrangements for the remaining days of school. We will be giving all pupils an ice pop/lolly at the end of the day on Monday, to keep them cool. Many thanks for your support

    Access to Higher Education
Please find attached information with regards to 'Access to Higher Education.' Access to HE courses are year-long courses that prepare students to progress on to university. If you are a parent or carer who finds themselves with more time on their hands now that your children are in school or who are possibly considering taking the first, or next, steps in their career, this course could be for you. Those without a level 3 qualification, such as A levels, have limited access to university. These courses give students that level of qualification, and open doors that were previously closed.

    Celebration Assembly
Celebration Assembly – Children are invited to and encouraged to bring in trophies/badges/awards that they have achieved outside school in swimming, football, Rainbows etc. Please ensure these are awards as they arise and not something from several months ago. In addition, if your child plays a musical instrument, performs dances or sings to a recognisable standard, they could be given the opportunity to perform in celebration assembly, which takes place every Friday. This also includes our weekly attendance celebration where the class with the highest attendance receives a trophy for the week. The children really love this celebration event on a Friday. Have a lovely weekend!
